Jens Thies - Network Architect with 30 Years of Experience

Jens Thies, owner of IT by PASSION, is an independent IT consultant and network architect with 30 years of industry experience. For more than 20 years, he has supported corporations, public authorities and public institutions in designing complex IT and OT infrastructures that are secure, future-proof and compliant with standards.

The approach combines strategic perspective with operational depth. Infrastructure is considered holistically: from the target architecture through to technical implementation, with experience at management, architecture and engineering level.

Particularly sought after is the ability to translate technical matters into the language of decision-makers and to stabilise projects at the point where classic system integration reaches its limits: at the interface of strategy, architecture and implementation.

Jens Thies operates his own Autonomous System (AS199854) at RIPE NCC, via a sponsoring LIR with native IPv6 connectivity. BGP peering, filtering, IPv6-only segments and monitoring run there under the same conditions we recommend to clients. The technical articles on IPv6 and RFC 8950 are based on this operation as much as on IPv6 project experience. Jens Thies is a supporting member of the Linux Foundation (Individual Supporter) and, as a certified expert, a member of BISG e.V., where he is certified and listed.
